An Evening With… Richard Billingham

Richard Billingham will discuss his work, focussing on his ongoing photographic investigation of his close family. Richard is best known for his acclaimed and controversial portraits Ray’s A Laugh which offer an intimate glimpse into his parent’s troubled life in a flat in Birmingham during the 1990s.

Greg Hobson about Tony Ray Jones

Greg Hobson is Curator of Photographs at the National Media Museum and will present an illustrated talk on the work of visionary photographer Tony Ray Jones.
His keen eye and understanding of photography's possibilities captured human interactions and activities with a wry humour, and sense of drama.
Heavily influenced by Cartier-Bresson and workshops run in the USA by Alexy Brodovitch, his unrivalled work has been hugely influential, despite his untimely death in 1972, aged only 30.

Carolyn Drake in Conversation With John Levy

Come to The Gallery for lunch and listen to Carolyn Drake discuss her work with founder and director of Foto8 magazine John Levy. Drake is a documentary photographer based in Istanbul and since 2007 she has explored the politics, cultures, environment, and ideas of progress in Central Asia through her photography. She has received recognition from numerous competitions including World Press Photo, POYi, Unicef, and Review Santa Fe.
